Nsama District came together yesterday at the Nsama Boma Showgrounds for the 2025 Agricultural, Tourism, and Investment Show, held under the timely theme “Adapting to Climate Change.” The event attracted a diverse audience and underscored the district’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development in the face of environmental challenges.
The show was attended by prominent district leaders, including Council Secretary Mr. Raphael Kamanga, Council Chairperson Mr. David Siame, District Commissioner Mr. Steward Katele, and traditional leader Chief Nsama. The dignitaries joined stakeholders in highlighting local advancements in agriculture, eco-tourism, and rural investment.
Delivering his remarks, Council Secretary Mr. Kamanga stressed the urgency of embracing climate-smart strategies across all sectors. “This year’s theme reflects our reality. Climate change is impacting rainfall patterns, crop performance, and even fish populations in our lake. We must adapt to secure our future,” he stated.
District Commissioner Mr. Katele reinforced the message, encouraging innovation and resilience among farmers and entrepreneurs. “Our development depends on how we respond to these environmental shifts. Government is ready to support sustainable and inclusive initiatives,” he said.
The event featured vibrant exhibitions from local farmers, SMEs, tourism operators, and investors. Participants showcased climate-resilient crops, conservation farming methods, traditional arts and crafts, and eco-tourism products that reflect Nsama’s unique identity.
Chief Nsama praised the inclusive approach of the district leadership, highlighting the importance of engaging traditional authorities and communities in climate action. “Our ancestors lived in balance with nature. Let us preserve that legacy by protecting our forests and water resources,” he urged.
Mr. Kamanga also emphasized the critical role of the private sector and cooperating partners in building local climate resilience. He appealed for increased investment in renewable energy, irrigation, and sustainable value chains that can drive long-term growth.
The event concluded with recognition awards for outstanding exhibitors and innovative farmers, celebrating their efforts in promoting climate adaptation. More than just an economic platform, the show also served as a showcase of Nsama’s cultural richness and community solidarity.
