Proflight Zambia Launches 2024 Flight Schedule to Kafue National Park

In an exciting development for tourism in Zambia, Proflight Zambia has announced its highly anticipated annual scheduled flights to the renowned Kafue National Park, set to commence on June 1, 2024. These flights are expected to provide seamless connectivity and ease of access for both local and international travelers eager to explore one of Africa's largest and most diverse wildlife reserves.

The initiative, operated through Procharter, will facilitate a three-times-weekly service between Lusaka and Chunga, situated within the expansive Kafue National Park. Running from June 1 to October 31, 2024, this service aims to coincide with the peak tourism season, offering holidaymakers and adventure enthusiasts the opportunity to experience the park's natural splendor at its finest.

Captain Josias Walubita, Director of Flight Operations at Proflight Zambia, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "We are thrilled to offer travelers a convenient and reliable means of accessing the breathtaking beauty of Kafue National Park. Chunga, strategically located near the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) and African Parks Headquarters, serves as the central hub of Kafue National Park. This positioning makes it an ideal gateway for travelers looking to explore the park's northern and southern regions. Additionally, Chunga offers convenient transfer options, including vehicle transportation and charter flights, facilitating seamless exploration of the park's expansive terrain.

The success of the flight schedule is attributed to collaborative efforts between Proflight Zambia, the DNPW, African Parks, and the Kafue Park Operators Association (KPOA). Ian Pollard, Commercial and Enterprise Manager at African Parks, emphasized the positive impact of increased accessibility, stating, "Enhanced connectivity to Kafue National Park will benefit tourists, local communities, and stakeholders alike, fostering sustainable tourism and economic growth."

Park Manager Craig Reid expressed his excitement about the initiative's contribution to Kafue's long-term restoration efforts, emphasizing the importance of tourism access in showcasing the park's natural wonders. ZRA INTERCEPTS SMUGGLED ALCOHOL MASQUERADING AS RICE AND KAPENTA IN KAPIRI MPOSHI

In a major breakthrough against smuggling and tax evasion, the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has intercepted two trucks in Kapiri Mposhi carrying concealed alcoholic beverages disguised as rice, kapenta, and shoes. One of the trucks, with a horsepower of 380, had just 185 kilometers left to complete its 1,100 kilometer journey from Nakonde to Lusaka when alert ZRA officers at the Kapiri checkpoint uncovered the hidden cargo. What had been declared at the Nakonde border as a consignment of rice and kapenta turned out to be boxes of undeclared alcohol. In a separate but similar case, another truck claiming to be transporting shoes was also found to be carrying concealed alcohol.
